Persons considering to start working


If you receive a pension and wish to start working, you will continue receiving the disability pension or receive an incentive pension based on your income. In any case, the overall amount that you receive from working and from the pension will always be higher than the disability pension alone.

Important:

  • The degree of incapacity that has been established for you will remain unchanged, whether or not you start working.
  • You are likely to be entitled to a full increment for a spouse and children, whether you have a degree of incapacity of 74%, 65% or 60%, and provided that your monthly income are above NIS 2,633 .

Income you are allowed to earn and still receive a pension

Pension rate varies according to your income, you can check how much you are allowed to earn and still receive a pension by the following means:

Incentive pension

You will receive an incentive pension instead of the disability pension, if your income from work are above the amounts detailed below (as of Jan 01, 2024):

  • Income above NIS 7,522 - whether a degree of disability has been established for you at 70% and above, or at 40% and above due to a mental disability [pursuant to sections 33 or 33a (1)] or intellectual (pursuant to section 91), or if you were entitled to a pension for a minimu period of 5 years over the 7 years preceeding to August 1, 2009.
  • Income above NIS 5,641 - in all other cases.


The incentive pension has no time limit and may be received until you reach retirement age. For your information, should your income increase, you would be able to switch and receive an incentive income only if you were entitled to a disability pension for 12 consecutive months.

Job placement and vocational rehabilitation

The National Insurance Institute’s rehabilitation services are provided by social workers who assist you in finding a job and a vocational training that will give you the right tools for job integration.
